Heating Contractors in South Bend, Indiana

We Take the Sweat Out of Heating Systems

When purchasing a heating system, there is more to comfort than the warmth your system generates. Heating systems are a major investment for most folks and finding the right one for your residential home, commercial business, or industrial facility can put you into a cold sweat.

Whether you are building, remodeling, or replacing an obsolete, inefficient, or damaged heating system, depend on Edward J. White, Inc. heating contractors to do your job right. We assure your total comfort through every step of the process from your first contact to our in-home assessments, no-pressure estimates, and right through installation.

We service all brands of furnaces, such as Bryant, American Standard, Trane, etc. - as well as our preferred line Armstrong Air, a manufacturer backed by years of fine quality and high value. Yet, we don't go for the "big sale" because a big heating system isn't always your best choice for either energy or cost efficiency.

  1. We start with a few questions to determine your needs and your preferences.

  2. Our heating contractors do a thorough assessment of your current heating system, your ductwork (if applicable), insulation levels, window and doorway placements, and the size of your home, business, or manufacturing facility to further determine your heating needs. And of course we are air conditioning contractor's too, so we'll make sure we set you up for success when the weather gets warm also.

  3. We put your information together in a written estimate so that you can compare costs, energy efficiency, warranties, and service agreements. In fact, we'll help you review any estimates to be sure your options are clear.

  4. Edward J. White, Inc.'s heating contractors are air specialists, fully licensed and certified for all work that we may perform in your home or business. Additionally, our technicians are drug free and we insist on a neat appearance and tidy work habits to ensure your comfort through every step of the job.

We service and install all types of heating systems: forced air (furnaces and air handlers), radiant heat (boilers that circulate hot water and steam, generally in the floor), geo thermal (ground source water to water and water to air) and heat pumps (air to air) for homes, businesses, and industrial facilities. We are also concerned with your indoor air quality and will make sure any forced air system has appropriate filtration in place to reduce dust and contaminants from being introduced into your living space.

FAQs about Furnaces

Do furnaces have air conditioners built in?

Not necessarily, but in our Michiana climate, it's pretty typical to install an A coil in a furnace cabinet and connect it to an outdoor condensing unit to have a combined furnace and AC unit. That way the unit does double duty, heating in the winter, and cooling in the summer by providing cool air through your HVAC or ventilation system.

How do I choose an HVAC contractor or technician?

Look for a company with years of experience. For Edward J. White, we've been keeping the Michiana area comfortable since 1925. Before making a hiring decision you'll also want to make sure a company has good reviews. You can view ours here.

How much does it cost to install heating?

That depends on the type of heating system, geothermal heating, vs forced air powered by natural gas or electricity, the size of your home or office building, and the quality of the equipment you purchase will have an effect on the life of your AC unit as well as  the size of your heating bills.

What does a heating contractor do?

Besides installing all types of furnaces and boilers, they often handle plumbing services as well like installing water heaters.
